Gould Adams Park Aquatic Centre in Logan has become the first Queensland pool to install AI technology that will help detect early signs of drowning.

The system uses overhead cameras and specialist software to detect early drowning stages such as going into signs of distress.

Royal Life Saving Society Australia General Manager RJ Houston told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "It empowers the lifeguards to know that they just do their jobs as normal, but if they miss anything there's this backup layer of supervision and detection afforded by the AI technology."

This interview follows on from Peter Fegan's interview with Logan Mayor Jon Raven.
