In their Evangelical backgrounds, Matt Swaim and Ken Hensley didn’t believe that Baptism had any sacramental effect; for them, it was just a way to testify to their fellow Christians that they were serious about their Christianity. But after reading through the ways that the early Church talked about Baptism as a bath of regeneration, they went back to the Bible, to see if Baptism was discussed that way in the Scriptures. What they found was a pattern of salvation through water and spirit that ran through the entire course of salvation history.
