In March 2024, Trieber's ministry settled a lawsuit for an undisclosed amount after two women came forward with horrifying claims of abuse and cover-ups involving his brother-in-law, Mike Strouf.

Fast forward to February 2025: Strouf’s name was removed from marquee signs at Santa Clara’s Magical Bridge Playground after information about the lawsuit and victim stories was sent to city officials. But instead of showing remorse or addressing the abuse, Trieber took the pulpit to complain about how hard it is for him to deal with lawsuits.

I break down his troubling response, including his denial of covering up abuse and his attacks on critics—calling them “liars,” “sodomites,” and “lesbians.” Despite his loud proclamations, the victims’ stories paint a very different picture: one where Trieber protected abusers and silenced victims.

And here’s the kicker: just days ago, Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor honored Trieber and North Valley Baptist Church with an award, completely ignoring decades of allegations and lawsuits tied to his ministry. It’s yet another example of how institutions sweep serious claims under the rug when it’s convenient.
