We're Saying "Thank You" to Veterans this weekend, in observance of Veterans Day. Joining us are, Chief George S. Farrell (retired) Chairman, RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub and Lieutenant General Reginald A. Centracchio (retired), Rhode Island adjutant general emeritus and RI Heritage HOF inductee (2003). They represent the RI Hub of "Honor Flight", a national organization that transports American Veterans to Washington DC. In recognition of "Honoring Our Veterans Service and Sacrifice", RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub is recognized nationally as the hub that leads by example. They are "dedicated to honoring our Veterans by offering WWII and Korean War Veterans a no-cost trip to visit the memorials in Washington, DC". As you may imagine, this is no easy task. Listen as Lt. General Centracchio lauds Chief Farrell on his logistics acumen and the experience that moved both to participate. Chief Farrell recounts the challenges realized in this massive effort, as he faced responsibility for a Veteran's health crisis, during a trip which had him rethinking his involvement. They also encourage Veterans to contact them for future flights, which currently total 31 with approximately 1000 participant Veterans. Visit their website, to learn how to apply for a flight or how to support the RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub. We can start by never neglecting to say "Thank You" to a Veteran for their service.
