Andy Conduit-Turner is joined by Gene Dolders, the director of Giallo-inspired slasher The Blade Cuts Deeper, which recently had its world premiere at Evansville Horror Con in the US.
Meet John Abbott, narcissistic host of infamous real-crime show Lights, Camera, KILL. Known for its lurid re-enactments of the darkest of trespasses, it has made him rich by exploiting pain and suffering. Yet while Abbott basks shamelessly in the limelight, one victim has seen enough. Broken by his loss, the man has a burning thirst for revenge - and now he wants to make Abbott bleed.
Filmmaker and cinema aficionado Gene Dolders got his start in the industry at the turn of the century as a freelance cameraman in the corporate sector. Hailing from Liverpool, Dolders spent several years honing his craft on commercial shoots in the US, Europe and the Middle East, before a move to the Far East followed in 2006. For the next decade he lived and worked in various cities such as Daegu, Guangzhou, Macau and Manila, soaking up the different flavours of cinema on offer while learning from people in the business.
The Blade Cuts Deeper is Dolders’ first feature-length flick, having previously directed two shorts including Death Is The Keeper Of Secrets and Death Is Not A Whisper.
