Perhaps no group has been more adversely affected by COVID-19 than the elderly community and immuno-compromised individuals. Already struggling with health issues, people in these groups are now struggling with being able to provide for their daily necessities such as groceries and prescriptions. Although many stores are offering special hours for shopping to accommodate those needing more distance from others, it is still a challenge for many people to travel and get supplies.

In this episode, we introduce you to Shopping Angels, a program designed to provide groceries and supplies to at-risk groups.

In this episode, host Bruce Bracken discusses with Chayse Baker, the Chief Communication Officer for Shopping Angels, how Shopping Angels was created as well as its quick rise to becoming a global organization. Chayse describes how Shopping Angels was able to grow their organization from a handful of volunteers, to 8,000 volunteers across the US, Canada, and Australia. By leveraging local and national news, such as CNN and Time news, Shopping Angels was able to quickly organize and coordinate with volunteers and people needing help. Through its volunteers and deep commitment to serving others, we also learn how Shopping Angels is able to be an absolutely free at-home delivery service, asking for nothing but the value of groceries from their clients.

Join us as we learn how a group of college students and friends found a way to help their immediate community in Reno, Nevada, and eventually ended up helping people all around the world.
