Jesus makes it plain that not all roads lead to life. Those who place their faith in themselves, evidencing pride in their character and deeds, will be humbled. Exalting yourself will only lead to destruction. But those who place their faith in Christ, throwing themselves at his feet for mercy, will receive life. God exalts the humble because they trust not in themselves but in Christ alone who gives grace and kindness to needy sinners. Let our neediness drive us to our loving savior!
