The original "Halloween" movie introduced the world to the genius of John Carpenter and invented the slasher film genre. After a successful sequel John Carpenter had a different idea for the third film. Carpenter wanted to turn the franchise into an anthology, and he was going to start that with "Halloween III: Season of the Witch"
Carpenter's experiment did not bring the same box office the Michael Myers films brought. "Halloween III" was quickly forgotten as the outlier of the mega horror franchise.
