At midnight on January 13, 2025, after extensive litigation by Donald Trump in an attempt to prevent it, the US Department of Justice released Volume I of the report by Special Counsel Jack Smith, which describes the Special Counsel's work to investigate and prosecute Donald Trump for his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
The report comprises six sections and an appendix.
This episode is a audio reading of the Part II, "The Law". This section details exactly what laws Trump is alleged to have violated and their history, as well as how the Special Counsel's Office planned to address any potential defenses Trump might raise at trial.
