Whether you have ADHD or not, you’ll want to take some time and listen to this conversation about finding your voice.

Today, Dave speaks with Dr. Eileen Forrestal, author of "The Courage to Shine: Find Your Voice and Discover the Healing Power of Your Words."

As a former anesthesiologist, she transitioned from a career of 'putting people to sleep' to one of 'waking people up' through her words and actions.

The book is not specifically about ADHD but it has a theme that many of us need to take note of.

Many of us struggle to find our voice in many situations and there are a lot of us out there struggling to find fulfillment as well as navigate some tough situations. That's where her theme of the healing power of words can help us all.

Dr. Forrestal starts her book off with a rather life-changing incident which sets the tone for much in her life, and she discuss the impact this had.

She discusses with Dave what finding your voice really means to us. And she talks about what she really wants readers to walk away from her book.

Dr. Forrestal speaks with Dave about some necessary components of self-discovery in different aspects of our life such as career and personal goals.

They also talk about that inner dialogue that many adults with ADHD have, especially if you have been diagnosed with ADHD later in life and how to manage those internal conversations.

Many people with ADHD can focus on negative thoughts and we can talk down to ourselves, Dr. Forrestal discusses how we can turn these negative thoughts around and be kinder to ourselves.
