Lou Gehrig, for those of you who do not know, was an American baseball player who played 17 seasons with the New York Yankees, winning the All-Star vote 7 consecutive seasons, and sporting a career batting average of .340, with an on-base percentage of .440. He was one of the most loved and respected players in the game. On May 2nd, 1939, he sat out of the batting order for the first time in 2,130 games, a feat that only two men in baseball, Lou and Cal Ripken, have achieved. He did do because his muscles were failing him. He had a doctor look at him and he diagnosed Lou with amyotrophic lateral schlerosis- ALS- today called Lou Gehrig's disease. This is a story that should be shared with family- and it is a story about family, and how important that a loving family is to all of in times of crisis,
