When Jess Ronne, author of Caregiving with Grit and Grace, was 7 months pregnant, she was told that her child wouldn’t live. She attended a healing service and with tear-stained cheeks and all the faith she could muster she cried out to God to heal her unborn child.

He didn’t. At least not the way she had hoped.

And in that one unanswered prayer Jess found peace. In that peace, she found freedom.

When faced with the choice to carry a baby that doctors said she shouldn’t, Jess shares how God doesn’t call us to a life of choosing what is easy but rather to a life of choosing hard obedience.

Lucas was born with many special needs, and Jess was there to meet them.

Years into her life as a caregiver her husband Jason was diagnosed with cancer and eventually lost that battle.

As she cared for her husband and her son, Jess learned to keep her eyes on Jesus, the storm calmer, rather than the storm.

And on one of the hardest days as a caregiver, God reminded Jess that her work as a caregiver, messy as it is, is holy work.

The demands of caregiving can often leave you feeling exhausted, isolated, stressed, or unappreciated. Jess Ronne understands. Through her journey, she’s experienced God’s grace, fulfillment, and blessings. In the pages of Jess’ book you just might experience Him too.

Also in the podcast, the change of seasons highlight how some things haven’t changed. It can bring a sense of hopelessness. How long, Lord. Shawna shares how lamenting to God about the things you hoped would be different draws us closer to Him and strengthens us for the journey – however long it may be.

“I felt so much peace in this person.” A guest entered the studio and immediately Shawna felt the peace of Christ in Him. She felt more at peace just being in the same room as him. And it made her wonder, ”Do others experience Jesus in me?”
