With books as "Speak" ("Säg något"), "The Impossible Knife of Memory" ("Skärvor av minnen") and the newly into Swedish translated "Wintergirls" ("Vinterflickor") Laurie Halse Anderson doesn't shy away from deeply difficult subjects. Plus she has the diplomas to prove that she really can write - last year she was awarded the most prestigious award - The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award - The ALMA. Tove and Martin got the chance to talk with Laurie when she visited Umeå and Littfest. What books does Laurie want to recommend you to read? How is her writing structured during the day? What roles do parents play in her books? And what is to be done about banned books in the US? These are just some topics in this episode. We want to thank the staff behind ALMA for giving us this opportunity, and the picture of Laurie is taken by Susanne Kronholm. Enjoy!
