A Cambodian girl named Boun grew up on a houseboat in a floating village, where she suffered abuse at the hands of several family members. Around age six or seven, she became deathly ill. Instead of taking her to the doctor, her father was content to let her die.She eventually went to live in a safe house for girls run by Christians. After all she had been through, Boun struggled to understand God’s love. That changed after she received a pair of flip-flops and a stuffed animal as a gift from someone in another country.
