Is there inequality when it come to treating hairloss?
Dr Rex is from Arizona. He grew up in Nigeria and returned to the US at 18, where he studied medicine in New York. After learning that it was rare to find an African American dermatologist, he decided to specialise in this area.
We discuss how important it is to have representation within medicine, and how all practitioners should have a cultural understanding and empathy for their patients' backgrounds, traditions & beliefs.
It was after a mission trip to Ethiopia that he decided to become a Physician so that he could help people in rural underserved communities. He believes that there is an inequality within healthcare, particularly around the socially & economically challenged.
He works hard to encourage the future generation of dermatologists to use their skillset to increase access to dermatology in less desirable localities.
