This week I'm sharing with you my top quotes from a favorite recent read: Living Life Backward by David Gibson

I really could have quoted so much of the book, but as I've read and re-read many portions of it as I teach Ecclesiastes to the ladies of our church...these are the ones that I come back to and want to not forget.

These are all quotes from his book:

1. "He means there is nothing new we can ever discover to break the cycle and so satisfy us."

2. "In this world, those who follow Jesus Christ never find a permanent home. We find peace with God through Christ and there is rest for the weary and burdened. But the gospel does not lead us into a settled life of contented ease."

3. It is part of living well to accept two things: first, we are enclosed within time bounds, and second, God is not."

4. Every tear and every sighing sorrow for my wrongs, whether through things I have done or had done to me - each one will be sought out by the God who is perfect justice, truth, mercy, and love.

5. (on Ecc 4:6) "It simply means rest - peace of mind and calmness of soul. Its a word to capture the deep well-being of those who know their place in the world, content with the boundary lines of their life and able to enjoy the fruits of their labors with a cheerful heart."
