I have 'journaled' in the past but never really got far with it, I have always found keeping diaries or journals to restrictive! the pages that they give you never really fitted my requirements or how I wanted to journal. As a result I never got far with it and stopped when the barriers became to many. I also felt that journalling meant writing for ages and dumping every part of your day down onto the page. I am a big note taker and I have way to many note books with random notes in them, I also have lots of notes on my phone but no way of finding these notes when I need them or reflecting on them after the event.

At the beginning of the year, I decided to revisit the idea of keeping a journal as I could feel my mental health taking a real battering due to the current lockdown that had started in December. The challenges of running a business and looking after kids at home was really having an effect on my positivity and ability to deal with day to day situations. I looked to journalling to be able to help get my thoughts down and out of my head.

After looking at different journalling styles I decided to follow the Bullet Journal Method which was originally created by Ryder Carrol and you can take a look at his website for lots of instructional vides bulletjournal.com

Now if you google, check our youtube or pintrest then you will see lots of very ornate and crafted journals "BUJOs" but this woudl never have worked for me, to many barriers straight away, thats why i prefer the minimalist approach. Here are some of the benefits

1. You can set up the journal how ever you please

2. It helps me organise my day and future weeks & Months

3. I can track longer term goals or habits

4. Keeps all my notes in one place

5. Helps me stay more productive working on the important goals and not the 'fluff' that are really just distractions

6. Helps my mental health by allowing me reflection time to get my thoughts down on paper and out of my head - 3 gratitude points every day

7. Its quick and easy and not overwhelming

8. I love stationery haha
