Throughout history there are many inspiring stories of people persevering against all odds and achieving incredible feats. The New Testament writers challenge us to approach our Christian journey as a race. This race is not one where we must win at all costs, live in perpetual triumph over adversity or pace ourselves according to worldly standards. We are called to complete the race with perseverance in our faith. We can persevere when we cast away all that hinders us in the race, like sin, draw our strength from Christ and focus on Jesus as our ultimate eternal reward
