My mind loves to play, “what if?” It waits until I’m in a normal, everyday circumstance such as grocery shopping, getting a drink from a vending machine, or riding on Trax, Salt Lake City’s trolley service.

The game sounds something like this:

What if…as you take that box of Cheerios from the shelf, you unwittingly release a ghoul from its slumber, and it ravaged the entire grocery store?

Or…what if, as you reach into the vending machine for that Diet Pepsi, something grabs your hand and pulls you in?

In our two stories by Blair Daniels, “Attention Shoppers: Please Hide Immediately,” and “The Vending Machine,” ‘what if’ becomes reality.

So, what if…there were some real stories about supernatural occurrences at grocery stores and with vending machines? Guess what? There are and we'll explore a few.
