Codependency in relationships can be a complex cycle to break, especially when it comes to family members. We tend to tolerate toxic behaviors for the sake of love and loyalty. That’s why today I wanted to unpack some of the myths around loyalty and tolerance in dysfunctional family dynamics and how true love requires setting healthy boundaries. This week’s episode 303 of the Fragmented to Whole Podcast is about breaking the codependency cycle!

Some of the talking points I go over in this episode include:

  • Love and loyalty do not mean tolerating abuse; when we excuse harmful behavior in the name of love, we're being loyal only to the dysfunction.
  • True love includes boundaries, truth, and valuing yourself as a person, not just as a parent.
  • The belief that "I don't matter" is a common issue for those in codependent relationships, leading them to prioritize the happiness of others over their own well-being.

If you're struggling with codependency and setting boundaries in your relationships, know that you're not alone. Recovery is about unlearning patterns handed down to us and choosing a different way forward. It's never too late to change, and I am living proof of that.

Be sure to tune in to all the episodes to receive tons of practical tips on living a more whole life and to hear even more about the points outlined above.
