In 1921, the Greenwood district of Tulsa, Oklahoma, often hailed as Black Wall Street, was razed to the ground by a white mob. But who recorded this horrific event? Mary Elizabeth Jones Parrish, herself a survivor, was not about to let this vicious attack be swept under the rug. She tracked down survivors and compiled their stories in first book about the event. In this episode we discuss the beginnings of Mary's life and the events that led up to the Tulsa Race Massacre.
