Robert is a one-of-a-kind, handmade doll created by the Steiff Company in Germany around the turn of the 20th century. The doll was purchased by Gene Otto in the 1920s. For nearly 70 years, Robert was Otto's close companion. Otto treated the doll like a real person, taking it everywhere with him and talking to it.
