My dad died recently. He lived 92 years and was married to my mom for 70 of those years. He was a good, faithful follower of Christ.
Hi, I’m Allen Burris from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, and I want to share
some thoughts about grief.
Grief resides between the pain of loss and the promises of God, which include life after death. Grief is a place of hope—a hope built on faith in a loving God. Jeremiah, the prophet, also grieved. As he wept, he kept a hopeful perspective because of the Lord’s faithful love. I find his words helpful; perhaps you will too.
He says in Lamentations 3: "I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord ever ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!’"
We have hope because we have Jesus. I hope you have a good day! Let us know if we can help you.
