In this episode of The Social Work Pivot Podcast, I speak with Carrissa Kai, a former social worker turned Trauma-Informed Body Transformation Coach. Carrissa shares how her experience with burnout, mental health struggles, and obesity led her to create Keep Me Curvy, where she helps high-achieving women break free from emotional eating and metabolic disease.

Before launching her business, Carrissa worked in domestic abuse services, residential children's homes, and statutory child protection. After facing burnout and a mental health crisis, she knew she needed a change. Now, she uses her expertise to help others reclaim their health.

We discuss:

  • How burnout led Carrissa to rethink her career
  • The connection between trauma, emotional eating, and metabolic health
  • Why coaching was the right path for her—and how social workers can use it too
  • Practical steps for social workers interested in career transitions or coaching

If you’re exploring new career paths, coaching, or ways to manage stress and well-being, this episode is for you.
