Dr. Hardy – Family Man, Dedicated Oncologist, and Passionate Educator
From Saskatoon to Vernon, Dr. Hardy’s journey in medicine has been one of dedication, passion, and impact. After completing medical school, internship, and Internal Medicine residency at the University of Saskatchewan, he and his wife—a nurse—moved to the University of Utah, where he specialized in Hematology and Oncology. In 1999, they returned to Canada, and Dr. Hardy has been a cornerstone of cancer care in Vernon ever since.
With a deep passion for hematological cancers like lymphoma and myeloma, Dr. Hardy stays at the forefront of advancing cancer treatments, mentoring the next generation of doctors, and advocating for his patients. He serves on the hospital foundation board, chairs the Medical Advisory Committee, and plays a key role in national oncology education through CAMO and the Royal College Medical Oncology Exam Board. In recognition of his dedication, he was awarded the 2024 CAMO Distinguished Service Award.
At the center of his world? His family. His wife and their two grown children—one at UBC and the other exploring their path—are his greatest joy. Outside of work, he loves biking, traveling, photography, trap shooting, and enjoying old movies and music.
Dr. Hardy is more than a physician—he’s a leader, mentor, and compassionate caregiver making a difference every day.
