“A Suspicious Offer ” is episode three of a six-part series entitled “Hide Business.” Episode three written and produced by Mike King conveys how Josiah Mooar becomes suspicious of Thomas Nixon when he offers to sale him a wagon and camp supplies for $350.00 less than the asking price. The story narrated by Brad Smalley explains how Josiah Mooar get’s into an unexpected offer and ends up having to fulfill a contract for 500 hides for Charles Rath. Josiah counters his suspicion of Nixon and Rath by writing his brother John in New York City. Josiah’s request in the letter is for his brother to explore a possible market for Buffalo hides.
