In Part five of the Return of the Great Hunters, Billy Dixon returns to Adobe Walls after losing his wagon and one mule in the Canadian river. Dixon finds the Adobe Walls settlement is in an uproar over the rumor of Indian attacks. Dixon, Plummer, and Masterson agree to travel to the Plummer camp to bury his partners Dudley and Wallace. They return to the Adobe Walls settlement on the night of the full moon to seek protection.
