In this week's episode, I focus on creating a great place to work and explore principles that apply to all teams, whether in workplaces, charities, sporting teams, or even families.

The inspiration for this topic comes from a major 4-page wraparound article this week in The Australian on the "Best Places to Work 2024".

I've spent over 31 years running workshops in various organisations, helping create great working environments, and I've witnessed firsthand the key impact of having a great boss on team success.

I discuss the six key principles quoted by Lord Mark Price, founder of WorkL, in the lead article in the wraparound:

reward and recognition, information sharing, empowerment, well-being, a sense of pride, and job satisfaction.

I agree that these six principles are key guides for building passionate teams that produce better results.

Poor leadership kills passion, while great leadership fosters it.

On the issue of empowerment I stress that individuals must choose to be empowered rather than wait for external permission.

Well-being should be balanced with productivity, avoiding the trap of over-pandering to employee demands at the expense of business success.

I share resources from two brilliant books that I have used over the past two decades: The Human Equation by Jeffrey Pfeffer and Leading the Revolution by Gary Hamill.

Lastly, I provide an update on TNT Radio, which is temporarily pausing weekend shows, but weekday shows continue as usual.

Enjoy the episode and reflect on how you can apply these principles to your own teams and communities!
