Destination Terror

Blackwell Island was a narrow island in New York City's East River that housed several

notorious institutions in the 19th and early 20th centuries, including a

lunatic asylum, prison, and smallpox hospital, where society's unwanted were

isolated from the general population, before being renamed Roosevelt Island and

redeveloped for residential use.
