Janie Dee is a theatrical icon, having worked extensively in both the UK and New York throughout her career. Just a few recent highlights from Janie's career include playing Phyllis Rogers Stone in Follies (National Theatre), title role in Linda (Talent Works NY), Margery in Hand To God (West End), Arkadina in The Seagull (Regent's Park), Essie in Ah Wilderness (Young Vic), Ruth in Blithe Spirit (West End, alongside Angela Lansbury), Putting It Together (St James), title role in Hello Dolly as well as Anna in The King & I (both Leicester Curve) and Belinda Blair in Noises Off (Old Vic). Janie won an Olivier Award for her performance as Carrie Pipperidge in the National Theatre's 1992 production of Carousel. Janie is currently preparing to reprise her acclaimed performance as Desiree in A Little Night Music for a socially distanced, one-night concert staging at Holland Park. The show sold out in just six minutes. She will then take to the stage at Crazy Coqs to perform her new one-woman cabaret, Janie Dee: New Life. Prior to lockdown, Janie was producing the London Climate Change Festival at the Charing Cross Theatre which has been postponed until theatres reopen. In this episode, Janie candidly discusses returning to A Little Night Music as well as preparations for her new cabaret, work/life balance, how it felt to return to the National Theatre for Follies and why she was slightly relieved that her Climate Change Festival was postponed.
