Podcast Introduction
Today is Psalms Wednesday. We’ll close this, the longest book of the Bible with chapters 149-150, and we’ll have our last prayer time together. I’m calling this episode “The Ultimate Encore.“
Summary
Chapters 149 and 150 are part of the Hallelujah Psalms, beginning and ending with praises to the Lord.
Psalm 149, like the other Hallelujah Psalms, lacks a specific title. It’s a celebration of the joyful connection between God and His people, radiating the excitement of praising God together.
Psalm 150, the last in the book, offers a fitting conclusion with its exuberant praise. It invites all of creation to worship the Creator. This echoes the scenes of worship in the book of Revelation.
In Revelation, we glimpse heaven’s worship, where countless beings from all nations and languages honor God.
Imagine a concert’s finale, but on an unimaginable scale, where God’s restoration brings endless celebration. With eternity at our disposal, we can worship and rejoice without end.
The closing Psalms offer a taste of the grand celebration awaiting us in God’s presence. We’ll declare, “Holy is the Lamb. Hallelujah! Great is the King of kings and Lord of lords!” It’s a vision of eternal worship and awe in the presence of the Almighty.

It’s the Lifespring! One Year Bible coming to you from Riverside, California and podcasting since 2004. My name is Steve Webb. I’m your OG Godcaster. Today is Psalms Wednesday, our last Psalms Wednesday, we’ll close this the longest book of the Bible with chapters 149 and 150. We’ll also have our last time of prayer together. The website is Lifespringmedia.com. and I’ll have contact information at the end of today’s show over there Lifespringmedia.com There are over 3000 episodes waiting for you to discover. Before we read, let’s pray. Our Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for your word, and we thank you for the richness in the blessing of the Psalms. As we close out that book today. I pray you would touch our hearts. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen. All right, are you ready? Let’s begin.
Steve Webb 0:57
Remember, I told you last week that the last five psalms are known as the Hallelujah Psalms, each one begins and ends with either the words hallelujah or praise the Lord, like the others in this group of five Psalm 149 is given no title.
Steve Webb 1:14
Psalms chapter 149. Praise the Lord, sing a new song to the Lord sing his praise in the meeting of his people. Let the Israelites be happy because of God their maker. Let the people of Jerusalem rejoice because of their king. They should praise him with dancing. They should sing praises to Him with tambourines and harps. The Lord is pleased with his people, he saves the humble. Let those who worship Him rejoice in his glory. Let them sing for joy even in bed. Let them shout his praise with their two edged swords in their hands. They will punish the nations that defeat the people. They will put those kings in chains in those important men and iron bands. They will punish them as God is written. God is honored by all who worship Him, praise the Lord.
Steve Webb 2:05
Psalm 150 is the final Psalm in the book of Psalms which itself has five sections or divisions. The first division ends with Psalm 41. The second with Psalm 72, the third with Psalm 89. The fourth was Psalm 106. and now we end with Psalm 150, which closes the fifth division and indeed, the entire book. Each of the five divisions in with a doxology or an expression of faith in Psalm 150 tops them all. It is truly a fitting way to close this most precious book. Commentator Alexander McLaren wrote, The 150th Psalm is more than an artistic close of the Psalter. It is a prophecy of the last result of the devout life and in its unclouded sunniness, as well as in its universality. It proclaims the certain end of the weary years for the individual and for the world.
Steve Webb 3:03
Psalms chapter 150. Praise the Lord. Praise God in his temple. Praise Him in His mighty heaven. Praise him for his strength, praise him for his greatness. Praise him with trumpet blasts, praise him with harps and liars. Praise him with tambourines and dancing. Praise him with stringed instruments and flutes, praise him with loud cymbals. Praise him with crashing cymbals. Let everything that breathes praise the Lord, praise the Lord.
Steve Webb 3:33
Beloved, what is your idea of what heaven is like? What do you think we’ll be doing? Of course, we really have no way of knowing everything. But the Bible gives us some idea of at least part of what life will be like. As we recently read in the book of Revelation, chapter five, verse 13, John tells us, then I heard all creatures in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and in the sea, saying to the one who sits on the throne, and to the land be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever. and in Revelation seven, verses nine and 10, there was a great number of people John wrote, so many that no one could count them. They were from every nation, tribe, people and language of the earth. They were all standing before the throne and before the Lamb wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. They were shouting in a loud voice. Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb. Revelation 19 five through eight says, then a voice came from the throne saying, praise our God, all you who serve Him and all you who honor him both small and great. Then I heard what sounded like a great many people, like the noise of flooding water, and like the noise of loud thunder. The people were saying, Hallelujah, our Lord God the Almighty rules, let us rejoice and be happy and give God glory. Because the wedding of the Lamb has come, and the lambs bride has made herself ready, fine linen, bright and clean was given to her to wear. Beloved, I think we’re going to be spending a great deal of time praising God the Father, God, the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Have you ever been to a concert where one of your favorite bands or musicians played? My son Stephen and his wife recently took the lovely lady Liana nice to see Norah Jones at the Greek theatre in LA a beautiful outdoor venue. It was a great show. and what do you think happened at the end of the show? Sure. Everybody’s stood up and applauded. Well, Nora and her band took their bows and left the stage while the applause continued. and after this went on for several minutes, guess what? Nora in the band came back out to do an encore. and of course, their entrance was met with even more applause and cheering. Now, imagine, at the end of time as we know it when everything here is wrapped up, and God has made all things right. He’s wiped every tear. and the enemy has been finally and eternally sent to his final destination, never to bring heartbreak and havoc again. Don’t you think we’ll all just break out in praise and celebration of the Lamb. and since we’ll have eternity to do it, it won’t be a problem to spend 1000 years or even 10,000 years singing Hallelujah is and rejoicing at what he has done. Today’s closing chapters of Psalms were just a small warm up for what awaits us when we see God face to face. Holy, holy, holy is the Lamb. Hallelujah, great is He Who is the King of kings and Lord of lords. I’d like to hear from you. What did you think about the Psalms this year? Have they been a blessing to you as they have been to me, let me know send to Boostagram or call the Lifespring family hotline or go to the comments page or write an email. I’ll tell you how to do those things at the end of the show. Tomorrow will be poetry Thursday, and we’ll close that section of the Bible with chapters seven and eight of the Song of Solomon.
Steve Webb 7:10
Beloved, the Lifespring One Year Bible has never accepted nor sought any kind of outside advertising. The only support has come from the Lifespring family. I know that you want to hear God’s word with no compromise. You want to know that the message is not watered down or changed just to placate those who don’t want to hear what the Bible teaches. I think that over the years I’ve been faithful in that, when the tough issues have come up. I’ve told you what God says about them. and I think I’ve done it in such a way that communicated his love his holy nature and his justice. Some people didn’t like the message and they stopped listening. That breaks my heart. But some people don’t want to hear the truth. But you’re still here. Praise the Lord for that. To those of you who have supported the show with time, talent or treasure, thank you. Every gift. Every donation has encouraged me to keep going. Doing a seven day a week show is a little bit like running a marathon. At the beginning of the race. There is a lot of adrenaline. It’s exciting. But as the race wears on, it can be a slog. It’s grueling. You just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other no matter what. and along the way you grab whatever refreshment you can. Beloved, your prayers, your emails, your comments, your Boostagram is your streaming, SATs, your donations of time and talent. All of these have helped to keep me going. I’ll always be grateful for each one of you. After today’s episode, there are just three episodes remaining. This is the last season. If you’ve received any value from the daily reading of God’s word, I would truly appreciate your value for value. Thank you for the show. Your donation now will help me keep the more than 3000 episodes online at Lifespringmedia.com into the future so that you and others will be able to enjoy him. My plan is to keep the website alive for as long as possible. But just like everything else in life that costs money, your donation no matter the size will help me do that. Now right now I want to thank today’s associate producer James in Norway who came in with his monthly $20 donation. Thank you so much, James, God bless you, my brother, and anonymous sent in a $33.33 cent donation in memory of PG Chris, and they sent a prayer request in with that which we’ll talk about in a moment. Thank you anonymous and God bless you. and Daniel Torrelio came in with $150. In this note, thank you for helping me become a better Christian. It was no agenda who helped me realize I was focusing my faith in the wrong place. I know that’s not the goal of the show, but that’s what happened. It was your donation last year that spoke directly to me. You brought me closer to Christ through the daily reading. I have lots more work to do. May God bless you now and forever. Well, oh my goodness, Daniel, thank you. Yeah, I love the no agenda show too. and Adam and John’s approach to media deconstruction, as they call it really does help to put current events in perspective. But it’s most important in all that to remember that God is still on the throne and no human on the planet is going to fix things. Our faith has to remain in the Lord. and Daniel as far as having lots more work to do. Join the club, my brother, each of us is a work in progress. But we have this promise from Philippians one six, and I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Amen. Daniel. Amen. Thank you so much for your donation. Daniel. God bless you

Beloved, this is our last time to pray together here on the show. I have loved our times of praising God for His goodness this year to so many in the Lifespring family and I have been honored to pray with you in for you. Thank you for sharing with the Lifespring family. Okay, now we have several prayer requests today. Here is anonymous, his prayer request that we mentioned a few minutes ago, anonymous wrote Steve this is a request for prayers in remembrance of former no agenda social member PG Chris. Her brother PG Kelly wrote a tribute to her and I think the first two paragraphs help us to know Chris better. Here they are. So this part is what PG Chris’s brother PG Kelly wrote. Recently I lost my sister Chris. She passed unexpectedly on August 11. After hip surgery. Many of you know her as PG Chris, a name she adopted from her email address, as well as being known in Pacific Grove as Chris Pacific Grove. PGx. You get that part? Okay. She was he continues, she was a member of shine a local small church in Monterey, California. She spent 10 years working at the Carmel mission and was a photographer of the kids that hung around downtown Monterey. Her artwork was featured around the Monterey area, and she took care of these kids as if they were her own and watched over them in return for being photographed. Chris did some work for her friend art, who had a show on public access TV, and was credited as PG Chris. Prior to this, we grew up in Southern California. Chris studied acting in Hollywood at Lee Strasberg acting Academy alongside Ed Begley Jr. When the school was located on Hollywood Boulevard. We would frequent the original farmer’s market where she worked as a teen Paramount Studios together many visits to Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm. She even worked at home savings and loan for my father. and he says Home savings alone is now Chase Bank. She banked at Chase Bank, the block my dad bought and turned over to Howard Amundsen to build their landmark bank on the corner of sunset and Vine. She was a true Hollywood brat. Her work continued with Hoag Hospital, Woodbridge walking in Irvine and Irvine Medical Center in Orange County. She worked at buffets department store and Harriman Jones clinic in Long Beach. The best of all, we grew up on the peninsula in Long Beach right on the sand. Chris found Christianity back in the early 70s, along with her cousin Debbie, both became born again. Chris was a loyal follower of Christ, she made sure all her T’s were crossed and all her eyes were dotted every minute of every day. She did not miss a beat. We did daily readings together as well as attending church services and functions. So that’s what PG Kelly said about his sister. and thanks anonymous for sharing that as a Southern California native, I’m familiar with just about all those places, and I’ve been to most of them. As a matter of fact, our son Steven was a patient at Irvine Medical Center after his terrible illness. and then LeeAnn’s grandparents lived in Long Beach for decades until they went home to be with the Lord. Sounds like Chris was a great lady. I’m so glad to know that she loved the Lord and it makes saying goodbye a lot easier when we know that we will pray for her family. and then a different anonymous set this in. Number one, I appreciate your devotion to the one year Bible even though I only started this season. I plan to go back as it has brought a lot of learning for me even though I am a longtime Christian, although sometimes not a great one. So thank you. Number two, prayers for my friend Matt in his family as they have been enduring a terrible tragedy. Number three, prayer from my friend Mark who was the cause of the terrible tragedy. I pray that Mark can find salvation. and then anonymous continues I guess praise report for you helping me get better acquainted with God’s word. I’ve tried to read the Bible and have failed but this format has helped me immensely. Thank you and keep up the good fight. Well, anonymous, thank you for sending that nodia and we will be praying. Next, James in Norway sent this in. Hi, Steve. praise report. I got a note from my dad today he writes, Apple Watch reported 5% AFib events last week, which was to be expected given how busy I was. overall feeling great. James in Norway says Dad is definitely on the mend, and he put his smiling emoji. and then James says thanks for leading us in prayer over the past years, Steve, on that note, some of us will need to lead ourselves in prayer now seeing is how the podcast will be retired in a few days. Would you mind giving us a quick Steve’s Practical Guide to quiet time with the Lord? Well, James, I will do that, though not on this episode. I will probably do that on Friday show. How’s that? and then James says more praise. Thank God for telling you to do this podcast. By the end of the week. I’ll have read the entire Bible for the first time. Next week. I’ll start reading it for the second time with a great big smiley emoji. I’m glad to hear that James. and then he continues I’ll be leaving my monthly donation active in the hope that it’ll keep the back catalogue available for many years to come. Well, thank you for that, James very much. That’s very kind of you. God bless you for that. and then James signs off with this. Enjoying your retirement hobby. and greetings to the lovely lady Leanne, and hurray for Jesus. Yes, hurray for Jesus. Indeed. Thank you, James. He says PS I thought he was signing off P S. What was the name of that other Lifespring media feed that we could point our podcasters at in case you publish a show now and then now thanks for asking James. It’s called Lifespring. All shows. If you subscribe to that Lifespring. All shows, any show that I produce in the future will show up there. Thank you again for asking. And then this one came in from Lily of the Valley. He said, Steve, hopefully this makes it in under the wire. Would you please pray for my wife, Lily. She is struggling with depression. Please use my online handle Lily the valley in the show. God bless. and then he signed his name. So yes, Lily, the valley your request did did just make it in as as matter of fact, it came in at two minutes past the deadline. But we believe in grace around here, don’t we? Seriously though, I am sorry to hear about your wife’s depression. That’s certainly no laughing matter. We’ll add her to the list. and thank you, Lily of the Valley for sending it in. and then Roy from Poland asked for prayer for his family. There were no other details. But of course, the Lord knows them. and that’s really all that matters, isn’t it? So yes, Roy, we will add your family to the prayer list. and then one more. I’ve mentioned my friend Mark on the show a few times this season. Mark has been in my life since I was about eight years old when we were on our city’s swim team. We’ve been there for each other all these years. So that’s about 61 years now. Mark married Karen in 1976. If I remember right, now get this she lived literally directly across the street from Mark when they were growing up. So they’ve known each other their entire lives. How amazing is that? They’re both wonderful people. and Mark told me today that Karen was concerned about a mole on her thigh. Well, it turns out that the Mole was a melanoma. They did surgery to remove it, I think just this past week, and they found that the melanoma has spread beyond the mall. So now they’re going to have to do further tests and biopsies to see if it has spread to any of the lymph glands, or any other parts of her body. Melanoma, as you probably know, can be a very aggressive, deadly cancer. So as we pray today, please do remember Karen and the others in our prayer requests list in your own prayer time. Okay, so let’s pray. Our heavenly Father, Lord, we do praise you, we worship you. We lift up your name, the name above all names, you are worthy, You’re mighty, you are our Savior, our shield, our strength, our rock, our provider, there is none like you. Hallelujah. We praise you, Lord. and we look forward to the day when we will see you and join our voices with all of creation to sing your praises. Father, we thank you for Chris for the fact that she knew you and for the life that she shared with so many people. We pray for those that she knew. We pray for her family and friends and those whose lives she touched. We pray that they would remember the special times that they shared with Chris, and that Chris’s relationship with you would encourage them to know you too. We pray for her brother Kelly Lord, I know that he misses her and I pray that you would comfort him. and now Lord, we pray for anonymous his friend Matt in his family. Lord, you know what the trash God is and we lift them up to you. and ask that you show yourself even through the pain. Help them Lord, we pray that the Holy Spirit would comfort them, strengthen them, and draw them to you. Fill them with your peace father. and we lift up anonymous, his friend Mark to you, the one that anonymous says caused the tragedy that Matt and his family are experiencing. We pray that you would bring someone into Mark’s life that will point the way to Jesus. Help mark to find a way to you, Lord, to a relationship with you. Show mark that in you is forgiveness in wholeness. and I thank you for bringing anonymous to this podcast. I pray that you would continue to teach him through your word, Lord. We thank you now for the good AFib report from James’s Dad, thank you for continuing the healing in his heart. We just asked you to continue that as you have in mind. and we thank You, Lord, for bringing James to the Lifespring family. He’s been an encouragement to me and I pray that you will bless him. Father, we now lift Lily up to you who was suffering with depression. Lord for us, this can be a hard thing to deal with. But for you all it takes is your touch your word, we pray that you would fill Lily’s heart with your peace and your joy. We pray that the Holy Spirit would be with her in a very special and powerful way. He is called the comforter in Scripture. That’s one of his ministries to believers. So we asked him to comfort and encourage Lily now, help her to see how much you love her and even cherish her. You made her you formed her, you have a purpose for her. We pray that you would show that to her, we pray that you would lift her depression now. and now Father, we pray for Roy in Poland and his family. We have no idea what’s going on in Roy’s family, but you do. and we pray that you would be there for them. Whatever it is, you can bring healing of hearts and relationships. You created the family and you are the ultimate healer of families. So we ask you to work in Roy’s family in your own loving and perfect way. and Father we pray now for Karen and Mark. We pray that the doctors are wrong about the melanoma having spread beyond the mole that if they’re not wrong about that, we pray you to stop the cancer now and remove it from her body. We pray that you would heal her miraculously or through the hands of the doctors, we pray that there would be no place for this disease in her body. Mark tells me it’s going to be almost two weeks before they have any word from the doctors on some tests that they’ve already taken. and we pray that you would calm Karen and marks hearts and minds. Let them find rest in comfort in you, Lord, they love you. Be with him now as they look to you. and father again, I thank you for each Lifespring family member. You brought them here. and I thank you for answering our prayers to teach us as we read. These people have been such a blessing to me, Lord, and I’m grateful. I pray that You would bless them, Lord, we pray this in Jesus name. Amen. Well, beloved, it has been such a privilege this year to pray with you and for you. Thank you for praying with me and for me this season. I will miss this time for sure. God bless each of you. Please remember to keep those we’ve prayed for today in your own prayers. Lift them up to the Lord as you think of them throughout the days.
