Kun Edward Shue muutti uuteen kaupunkiin aivan 1800-luvun loppupuolella, rakastui Zona Heaster häneen päätäpahkaa. Pari meni melkein heti ensitapaamisensa jälkeen naimisiin, mutta onnea ei kestänyt kauaa.

Myöhemmin tapauksen käsittely oikeudessa muuttui täysin ainutlaatuiseksi lajissaan.
