#558 How To Stay in Love with Content Marketing: Interview with Joe Pulizzi
Jul 16 2020 38 mins
Back in May I was fortunate enough to interview Rand Fishkin on this podcast. When I first heard about SEO, Rand and Moz were my initial go-tos for all things SEO. I know this is the case for a lot of marketers who entered the industry in the last decade and a half. The same can be said for today's guest, Joe Pulizzi, in respect to content marketing. Joe Pulizzi is the Founder of the Content Marketing Institute and coined the phrase 'content marketing'. He spent 11 years at Content Marketing Institute, selling the company in 2016. So what's Joe been doing since 2016? We explore what Joe has been focusing on over the last few years in the podcast as I look to uncover what it is that keeps him in love with content marketing. In today's episode we explore: - Joe's tips on how to keep inspired and creative - Characteristics of great content marketers - The unusual but highly effective way that Joe decided to market his first fiction novel - The content marketing trend that Joe is most excited about I loved speaking with Joe. His enthusiasm for content and creativity came through in our discussion and his energy was exactly the same when we weren't recording. I'm grateful that Joe gave us his time and I'm so happy that after all these years we finally get to bring one of the true pioneers of modern marketing to the podcast. #555 Inside the Mind of a Remote SEO Analyst: Interview with Marcos Alvarez Martin
Jun 25 2020 41 mins
A few episodes ago we mentioned that we have a goal with our podcast of bringing your more insider tips and advice from our team at SiteVisibility and today, we're pleased to be able to do just that. Our guest today is Marcos Alvarez Martin, Senior SEO Analyst here at SiteVisibility as well as BrightonSEO trainer. Marcos has worked at SiteVisibility for over 4 years but just over a year ago he made a permanent move back to Tenerife and now works with us as a fully remote employee. The circumstances in respect to the COVID-19 pandemic mean that right now a lot of businesses are having to adapt to working remotely and face the reality that remote working provisions are likely going to be in place for some time to come. For that reason, we thought it would be useful to get Marcos on the podcast and describe from his perspective the benefits and struggles of life as a remote marketer. We touch on topics including: - Why Marcos decided to head home and how he approached the topic of remote working with us at SiteVisibility - The specific steps we took together to plan out Marcos' transition to fully remote working - Challenges Marcos' has faced as a remote employee and how he has overcome them - Benefits of remote working for Marcos and his advice for companies in approaching the topic with employees  You'll be hearing from Marcos again in an upcoming episode where he joins one of our clients to discuss the ins and outs of a website migration for one of the UK's largest retailers. #551 The Journey of SparkToro: Interview with Rand Fishkin
May 28 2020 55 mins
Rand Fishkin has contributed an unfathomable amount to the marketing industry. He is a pioneer when it comes to marketing knowledge-share, product development and leadership. ...and in today's episode, I got to spend an hour one-on-one with him! As you'll hear, I used every last second of his time (sorry, Rand!) When I first was introduced to the practice of SEO around a decade ago, Rand was one of the first names I stumbled upon. His Whiteboard Friday sessions and 'Beginner's Guide to SEO' quickly became early staples in my SEO learning. I'm sure this is a case for so many of us that have entered the SEO industry over this last decade. Rand spent over 14 years at Moz before exiting in February of 2018. Since then, Rand and his co-founder Casey Henry have been building the brand new audience intelligence tool, SparkToro. I LOVE it. It's important to know that this isn't a sponsored episode (I suspect it might sound like it!), though Rand did provide me with a press-review account to help me prepare for this podcast. I spend a lot of time experimenting with new marketing software and when I believe in something, our listeners will hear about it. I really believe that SparkToro offers something quite unique in the area of market and audience research. In this episode, you'll hear much more about SparkToro's origin story, lessons from Rand in launching a new SaaS product, how you can use SparkToro to learn more about your current audience and target audience and Rand's plans for the future of SparkToro. It was an absolute pleasure to speak with him. Let me know if you enjoyed the episode by connecting with us and sharing your feedback via the following: SPARKTORO / RAND: - - - - SITEVISIBILITY / ME: - - - - [email protected] - [email protected] Thanks everyone, I look forward to speaking to you all soon and please do send feedback.
