Last week, a jury found former President Donald Trump guilty on 34 felony counts. Many are discussing the political reasons and ramifications of the verdict. But when you look at recent events through a spiritual lens, it’s easy to see why the Trump verdict isn’t shocking.

What standard does the Bible set for how believers should live? Well, the apostle Paul gives us his personal criteria. The problem is that we see Paul as a super-saint. We think it’s impossible to live up to his standard. While we may not have the same experiences Paul had, we should have the same pursuits. Some people who profess Jesus as Lord are not genuine believers. They have false faith. In fact, the Bible teaches this truth in more than one place.
