Unlocking Us with Brené Brown

Oct 14 2020 56 mins 20.6k

I’ve spent over 20 years studying the emotions and experiences that bring meaning and purpose to our lives, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s this: We are hardwired for connection, and connecting requires courage, vulnerability, and conversation. I want this to be a podcast that’s real, unpolished, honest, and reflects both the magic and the messiness of what it means to be human. Episodes will include conversations with the people who are teaching me, challenging me, confusing me, or maybe even ticking me off a little. I'll also have direct conversations with you about what I’m learning from new research, and we'll do some episodes dedicated to answering your questions. We don’t have to do life alone. We were never meant to.

I love Brene Brown! Her work, vision, presence, and countenance about herself and what we all are and can become inspires me to achieve newer heights. Heights I never knew before that elevate me spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, and beyond. I am always enough just the way I am and always right where I need to be.

Wonderful interview with a wonderful insight. Makes me realize I was and am my nieces' uncle Marvin. Thank you.

Brené is awesome. I saw her TED talk on shame years ago. She gets down deep into it and these podcasts do the same. She has helped me look into myself, to open myself up to vulnerability, to understand shame, guilt. As her one guest, Glennon Doyle, said, it's hard, it feels like I'm doing it wrong. When actually, you're doing it right finally. I've been doing it wrong for decades and yes it is freakin' hard to do it right when you haven't been. Brené is helping me with this.
