Ellery Queen remains one of the most famous names in the world of mystery and detective fiction. The character was created by cousins Frederic Dannay and Manfred Lee.
In 1929, Ellery Queen made his first appearance in The Roman Hat Mystery. The character would appear in numerous books, movies, television series, comic strips, radio shows, and magazines. Outside of the novels, Ellery Queen is best know for the 1940s movies with Ralph Bellamy and William Gargan, the 1975-76 TV series with Jim Hutton, and the mystery magazine that bears his name. Over radio, Ellery Queen had five separate radio runs with Ellery played by five different actors. However, the names of the actors playing Ellery were never featured in order to provide the illusion that Ellery was starring as himself in the radio show.
Host Adam Graham is your guide as he explores all surviving radio episodes of Ellery Queen. Most of the episodes were designed around the idea of armchair detectives solving the case. For those missing that element, these scenes are recreated with actual listeners.
