These short files together form a lecture delivered by Dr Chris A Williams in 2008 to the Bishopsgate Institute. The topic is the history of the police control room in the UK, and it explains where the 999 system came from. It's been put here as an experiment with the medium, and it's a (slightly edited) recording of a live lecture rather than a studio talk.
