Write Before, and Write After

Inspired by a very funny idea by my niece Stella, and some funny observations about my pet peeves from my friends, I talk about things in writing that "trigger" me and some that just make me incredibly uncomfortable. I'm probably going to make a book out of this, so if you have anything in writing (or reading) books that triggers you, please let me know and it might make the book!

In this episode, I do my first interview! My niece joins me to read the children's book we wrote together, talk about other stories she forces me to write, and then she just gets creepy so we end the episode.

In this episode, as in others, I ramble on far too long, overshoot my 30-minute target time by another 30 minutes, and mispronounce several words, turning query into quarry at one point. I also discuss query letters, what they are, their importance, and several tips I've learned in writing them. Then I write a query letter for Cemetery Spade: Zombie Detective.

In this episode, my poor, trusting, innocent friend Mike Baker gave me a sample of a story he's working on to edit. I discuss the editing process, make a few snarky comments, and hopefully, end with Mike's story (and our friendship) none the worse for wear. 

Pretty busy today, but I wanted to check in with a quick update. In today's podcast, I'm on a bit of a writing high from yesterday. Today I did something a little different and did three "word sprints" through the day where I wrote as many words as I could in 30 minutes.

For some reason, I was up at four in the morning, so I decided to give you all an inside look at how I tear apart my writing when I edit.

So, after a very promising Write Before yesterday, I didn't get anything done, so I had an extra writing session this morning and did a Write After at lunchtime. In this one, I discuss writing habits and the importance of failure.
