President Donald J. Trump's onslaught on DEI practices and federal employment, have upended the employment of large numbers of black people. This week, NBC News' Curtis Bunn reported' that a so called "black middle class" developed because "the federal government provided both reliable jobs and guardrails to offset systemic racial bias in hiring and promotions, offering an alternative for Black workers who might be overlooked or ignored in the private sector."
