Thomas Laford wrote in to say that he and his wife, Andrea, had watched the Section 31 movie and that she rated it at a 6 and Thomas had rated it a 6.5 (at best). He commented that It really felt like a “made for TV movie”.
And he noted a few tropes:
- The opening sounded like HUNGER GAMES
- The Bar Singer made Thomas think of THE FIFTH ELEMENT
- Walking around the room to identify the covert team had a MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE vibe
- He wonders if the bad guy who stole the package looks like STAR LORD to anyone else?
- Did he have a VARON T DISRUPTOR?
- Running through the walls reminded him of
- Phased: Roe and Geordi
- Normal: Juggernaut
- Typical Star Trek ending – saved with 1 second to go – GALAXY QUEST
- Didn’t the Guardian of Forever send Georgieu back in time to the Mirror Universe to create a better empire?
- What happened to that story line?
- At the end – Why does every ship AND the starbase/bar warp away in the same direction?
