Marital abuse is not just physical—it is a deeply traumatic psychological battle. While many associate abuse with bruises and visible wounds, the most damaging scars are often the ones unseen. Emotional and psychological abuse are at the core, where a manipulative and controlling spouse systematically breaks down their partner’s self-worth, independence, and sense of reality.

This type of abuse includes gaslighting, constant criticism, isolation, financial control, intimidation, and emotional blackmail. The abuser shifts between affection and cruelty, keeping the victim confused, trapped, and emotionally dependent. Over time, the victim begins to doubt themselves, feeling powerless and unable to escape.

Marital abuse is about control, not love. Its effects linger long after the relationship ends, often leaving survivors struggling with anxiety, PTSD, and deep emotional wounds. Recognizing this abuse is the first step toward healing and freedom. No one deserves to live in fear, and help is available. 💜
