In this episode of Chasing the Insights, I talk to recruitment expert Marty Britton.
Marty talks to us about how many candidates "lie" when applying for a job.
Marty Britton is the President & CEO of Britton Management Profile Inc., (BMP) the first ever reference checking company in Canada, incorporated in 1974. Marty and her team have helped thousands of companies know who they hire over the last five decades.
Marty is an ambassador for the background screening industry. She assumed responsibility of the company from her father, the late David Britton over 30 years ago when the only service the company offered at that time was investigative reference checking. BMP has recently celebrated 50 years in business. Over the decades, Marty has added a wide range of pre-employment screening services to the list of product offerings including criminal & credit checks, employment, education & professional designation verifications, global sanction checks, exit & stay interviews, social media checks, and most recently our identity & indigenous verifications. With a strong global presence, BMP conducts verification checks in a variety of countries.
Being an active board member of the Professional Background Screeners Association (PBSA) for over ten years, Marty is also a diverse supplier and a certified member of WEConnect International and WBE Canada. Marty is also a proud member of Women’s President Organization, a peer-to-peer advisory committee in which she is actively involved.
Marty has recently released a book titled, Screening for the One, How to Gain an Edge in Your Hiring. This book offers a structured approach to identifying top talent and helping clients avoid costly hiring mistakes. This helps to ensure a productive and cohesive workforce. It’s important to know that the person you are hiring is who they say they are.
Being married and living in Toronto with her husband, Marty is most proud of her family and two adult children. She is a voracious reader and an avid walker, who enjoys spending time outside, especially when it is on a golf course. In the summer months Marty and her husband spend a great deal of their time at their “happy place” in Prince Edward County.
