Do you feel stuck & stagnant? When Christians feel a lack of growth or shame and fear, we are often relying on the unreliable instead of on God in our day-to-day needs.
Whether we are looking for love, freedom, hope, joy, provision, or satisfaction... Jesus is the only living and lasting source! In this series, we'll see the sneaky false beliefs that we can find any of this lasting goodness anywhere but Christ.
Over and over again in the Gospels, Jesus identifies our earthly perspective and transforms it into a heavenly one. In the same way, we will see how we are looking in all the wrong places, sometimes twisting good things and blessings into our top priority and the things we rely on.
We'll take a look at Luke 24:1-9, Jeremiah 2:12-13, John 4:13, & Isaiah 45:18-21 ESV and the idols that show up in our own lives as we turn away from the Living Water of Christ to our own cisterns that are full of nothing-ness or nastiness.
Life and our spiritual destination is assured for us through faith in Jesus, but day-to-day we can turn our blessings into our safe place... but good things without God are always unreliable. Relying on these unreliable things always results in shame, fear, hurt, and staying stuck as the enemy tries to discourage us, distract us, and cause us to doubt our truly faithful and loving God.
