When you spend a lifetime at war with your body, it’s easy to feel disconnected from it. This makes it harder to practice intuitive eating (how are you supposed to TRUST your body’s cues?!), harder to enjoy movement (every workout is a fight) and harder to show it love (when what you see in the mirror doesn’t feel like ‘you’).
Emma Walkinshaw is a Body Confidence Coach and accredited yoga instructor who is passionate about helping women to build a connection with their bodies, so that they can work with them, rather than against them.
In this episode, Emma and I chat about:
- How she did her yoga teacher training without ever believing she’d teach, because she didn’t have a ‘yoga body’
- The best yoga for beginners (and how to build the courage to actually go)
- Creating connection with your body
- Yoga and mindfulness for body confidence
- Working with your nervous system to create calm
- The role of morning routines in building self-awareness and a solid relationship with yourself
