This week on the Gratitude & Growth Podcast I sit with Ian Tyson (@Iantyson) and talk about finding gratitude in grief. We have a very open and vulnerable conversation about the loss we have experienced in our lives (Ian losing his mom when he was very young and me losing my dad in my early 20s) and how gratitude has shown us a way of accepting and navigating it.

Ian is a motivational speaker for 30+ years, the author of “Hooray for Everything! The Optimist Manifesto” and, my favorite title, a Silver Lining Prospector.

This is the first time I’ve ever spoken publicly about the last three months of my dad’s life, and I’m very grateful to Ian for holding that container for me. I didn’t realize how vulnerable I would feel and I can hear it for myself as I listen back – there are parts of this episode where I talk SO fast -- and I’ve learned that’s a defense mechanism of mine. I actually tried editing the speed of the podcast in those parts, but I decided to leave it be and allow my own vulnerability to come through.

For those of you who are going through any kind of grief right now – I hope you find hope and empowerment here.
