About The Podcast:
Hey friends! Welcome to The Grieving Girl Podcast. I’m Bonnie, your host—a millennial who has been navigating grief since I was 14 when I lost my dad to liver failure. Then, when I was 32, I faced the sudden and traumatic loss of my mom, who was also my best friend.
After my mom passed, I found myself searching for a podcast that could speak to the unique, messy, and sometimes hilarious challenges of grief—the stuff you don’t always hear about. From handling her estate to coping with the emotional rollercoaster of losing my best friend, I couldn’t find a podcast that felt real enough. So, I decided to make one.
The Grieving Girl Podcast is a space where we talk about all the messy, complicated, and sometimes absurd parts of grief. There’s no perfect way to grieve, and I’m here to share stories, laughter, and a whole lot of honesty about what it really means to process loss. If you’re grieving, supporting someone who is, or just want to understand grief better, you’re in the right place.
Season 1: The Unexpected Grief
In Season 1, we took a deep dive into the unexpected kinds of grief that can hit when you least expect it. It’s not always just about losing a loved one—it’s about the smaller losses, too. Infertility, falling out with a friend, a shift in family dynamics, or even the grief of losing your sense of self in a career change. We heard from grievers from all walks of life and shared stories about the moments that took us by surprise and the lessons we’ve learned along the way.
Season 2: Let Them Grieve Edition
Season 2, Let Them Grieve Edition, is where we really leaned into the weird, quirky, and sometimes awkward side of grief. You know—those moments when people say the bizarre things they think are helpful or when you start questioning if you’re “doing grief right.” Spoiler alert: there’s no one way to grieve. This season, we shared stories and tips with a side of humor to help you navigate grief in your own way, without the added pressure of societal expectations. It’s all about offering support, compassion, and a lot of laughs as we walk through the ups and downs of the grieving process together.
Season 3: 'Tis the Season to Be Griefy – Grief During the Holidays
And now, we’re diving into Season 3: 'Tis the Season to Be Griefy. The holidays can be a tricky time when you’re grieving. While everyone else seems to be in full holiday mode, you might be feeling a bit… well, off. Maybe there's an empty chair at the table, or you’re just not feeling “festive” in the way you used to. In this season, we’ll talk about how to navigate grief during the holidays—finding ways to honor your loved ones while still allowing yourself to feel the full range of emotions that come with this time of year. We’ll share stories of holiday grief, tips for managing tough moments, and ways to make space for both joy and sorrow during the season. After all, it’s okay to grieve and celebrate—sometimes, it’s just a little more complicated than that.
